NJ State Requirement
NJ 6-Hour Behind-the-Wheel Program
State-required training for 16-year-old drivers in New Jersey. $400 — complete program.
Overview
What Is the 6-Hour Program?
New Jersey law requires all new drivers under 17 to complete a 6-hour behind-the-wheel training program with a licensed driving instructor before they can take their road test. This requirement applies to all students who receive their permit at age 16. Our program fulfills this requirement completely and prepares students to drive safely and pass their road test.

Who Needs the 6-Hour Program?
Any New Jersey driver who received their permit at age 16 is required to complete the 6-Hour Behind-the-Wheel Program before scheduling their road test. This is a state requirement — not optional. Students who received their permit at 17 or older are not required to complete the program, though they may still benefit from professional instruction.
